Hello, my name is Mariela Cisneros. I'm going to be a junior. I'm at the OMLI because i want to gain leadership skills. We have done some activities to get to know each other better and/or to learn each others names. A motto that reflects who I'm is...My hobbies are snowboarding, swimming, talking with friends and reading. My favorite book is "Blood Promise".
When I first got to the Challenge Course I was a little nervous to try the high courses and I wasn't sure if I wanted to try any of the courses. Once I saw people coming out of there own comfort zone I also wanted to try something knew. During the Challenge Course, I felt better because I had tried some of the courses and in result of that I learned to challenge myself to something knew. I would highly recommend that to everyone it's fun and you get something out of it too.
We have had a lot of fun. We have played activities and visited some places. For example we have all played games together such as dodge ball, the egg drop and the bridge of knowledge. We also visited the beach. It was my first time so I was very excited, the beach was beautiful! We got to go to the Aquarium, it was interesting to see all the different variety of fish. We've done exercise almost every morning, weather it was running laps or just playing basketball and soccer.
At the OMLI we have learned a lot about scholarships and colleges that really helped me. We got to listen to some people talk about different colleges and it has helped and motivated me to go to college. We also got to personally to talk with the people from different colleges around Oregon and ask them questions that have helped all of the teens who attended at the institute.
I'm really glad I decided to come to the OMLI. It has helped me develop leadership skills and I have learned many things about college. I thank all the people who helped out because without them this program wouldn't be possible. I would encourage anyone to come and assist this program.
